A Man Called Ove, by Fredrick Backman - audiobook review.

 5 Stars!

I just loved this book. I didn’t expect to, especially when I first began, probably because it’s not the type I would usually pick up, but after seeing so many recommendations, I gave it a try.

A man called Ove is grumpy. Angry with the world, irritated with most people and pining for his wife, Ove has had it. But life is not done with him, not quite yet.

Beautiful written and narrated, this novel is not overtly sentimental, yet not too aloof, and this is the story of a grumpy old man, whose persona is annoying to most people, yet his heart is in the right place. And he sets all our emotions in gear, from irritation to endearment and utterly heart-rending.

There are many Ove’s in our lives, ones that can be easily dismissed as grumpy old men and it was a lovely to wander through his mind and see through the façade.

A wonderful surprise package with something in there for everyone.
